My membership to Sons of Norway began in 1995. At that time I had a daughter, Rebecca born 1992, and a son, Benjamin born 1994 and needed a “date” night. It was a share your skill evening and I brought my Kransekake to share. It was a hit and I met the most cool and fun people and joined on the spot.
In 1999 my baby, Elizabeth, was born. Through the years the lodge (Norsota) members took great care of my children while I helped in leadership roles. Norsota members became part of my family. They definitely helped raise my children!
All three of my children attended the meetings, had a great time with the adults, went on to attend Masse Moro camp, including going back as counsellors, and my eldest attended a folk school in Norway the year after high school. There she met a Norwegian, and after obtaining her college degree at UND as a mechanical engineer, moved to Norway to marry that Norwegian whose name is Daniel. They reside in Råde, Norway and have two children, Thomas and Annika.
Sons of Norway and Norsota have been a part of me for a long time. I love sharing the culture and also learning new things. I’ve served on the District One board off and on over the years as both youth director and zone 2 director.
At Norsota I’m currently the president and have served in many roles throughout the years and learned from and loved everything I’ve done.
It’s the people who make it the best!
